🇬🇧 SUSPENSION BRIDGE (Valladolid)

From the foundation of the city of Valladolid until the mid-19th century, for around 800 years, el puente Mayor -the Mayor Bridge- was the only crossing point to the other bank. Puente Colgante -Suspension Bridge- was the second to link both sides when the first one, due to the city’s growth in that century, was almost on the brink of collapse.

The introduction in the 1855 Universal Exposition in Paris of a new bridge system called «bowstring» led the Valladolid authorities to commission the construction of the bridge, using this new system, to the English company John Henderson Porter in their Birmingham
